Beaches near Punta Gorda FL
Visiting Punta Gorda Florida?  You have several options for great beaches near North Port, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda FL.  At Gulf Island Tours, we offer Southwest Florida visitors a perfect option for relaxing and catching some rays with our Gulf Limousine service.  Give us a call and we will pick you and your group up and take you to the best beaches near Punta Gorda FL!  Actually, you have a choice of four pristine beaches in Manasota Key, all less than 30 miles from Punta Gorda!
If you'd like to have a lot of amenities, Englewood Beach offers not only the closest beach access, but across the street there are several great pubs and restaurants to delight any beach goer!  You won't have to worry about finding a parking space with Gulf Limos!  All the great eateries and beach shops are less than a half mile from the wide expanse of Englewood Beach.  So, when planning a day trip for a beach near Punta Gorda FL, let us take care of you and your group coming and going to Englewood Beach.
For nature enthusiasts, Stump Pass Beach Park is also near Punta Gorda on Manasota Key.  After passing through the roundabout, we make a left at Englewood Beach and ride down Gulf Blvd. until it dead ends.  There you can experience a fantastic natural, unspoiled beach that has hiking trails both to the Gulf of Mexico and to Lemon Bay.  Stump Pass Beach is actually a peninsula on the southern end of Manasota Key where many people like to fish from shore!  This beach near Punta Gorda is a local favorite but plan on packing a picnic with drinks if you want to spend a day here.
Another spectacular option is Blind Pass Beach Park, also known as "Middle Beach" because of its location.  Many people visiting from Punta Gorda may not know about this beach but it is definitely our favorite!  There are neat hiking trails thru the lush tropical forests that are full of exotic birds!  There are also showers and bathrooms but you can walk around the bend of Blind Pass and usually not have to deal with crowds of people.  It's one of the best kept secrets in "Old Florida."  Again, no worries about navigating or parking because with Gulf Limos, we drop you off at the point of your choosing and pick you right back up when you are ready to leave.
Last but certainly not least, another awesome beach that is near Punta Gorda FL is Manasota Key beach.  This beach is at the northern end of Manasota Key in Sarasota County.  It is a little bit deeper which is good if you want to try and do some snorkeling.  This beach seems to go on and on and there is also great shelling and shark tooth hunting here.  During the ride there, you will pass under a tropical forest canopy for several miles that is simply spectacular!
So, next time you are wondering 'What beaches are near Punta Gorda Florida" bookmark this beach blog for quick and easy access to our website!  You can see all four beaches in one day with a little bit of planning, have a great dinner, listen to some great music, plus you can have your favorite adult beverages with no worries whatsoever!  Let the pros at Gulf Limos make your beach day one to remember for a lifetime!

TEN important facts about mangroves

* Mangroves are tropical plants and root systems that have adapted to wet loose soils, salt water, and to being periodically submerged by tidal fluctuations

*  Climate, tidal fluctuations, salt water and soil type are the four major factors that appear to limit the distribution of mangroves

* More than 50 species of mangroves are found throughout the world, three of which are native to Florida: White mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa), Red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle), and Black mangrove (Avicennia germinans) White mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa)

Mangrove root systems trap and cycle various organic materials along with chemical elements and essential nutrients in the coastal ecosystem

* Mangrove eco-systems provide a vital basic food chain resource for marine organisms

* Mangroves provide a nursery physical habitat and nursery  for a huge variety of marine organisms, several having important commercial and recreational value

* Mangroves serve as both roosting & nesting sites for a wide variety of our local bird species

* Mangroves help to serve as storm buffers, reducing wind damage and wave action, especially in sandy, shallow shoreline areas

* Mangroves are important for protecting water clarity and quality by filtering runoff while trapping sediment and debris from adjacent uplands

* Through a combination of all of the above functions, mangroves contribute significantly to the economy of several of the coastal areas of Florida.
