Visit Cayo Costa

We had a wonderful charter on the H2O Limo this past Friday with a family of four and they wanted to visit Cayo Costa as part of their cruise.  Their tour started with a ride in our Chrysler Super Stretch Limousine from Captiva Island to the point of embarkation in Manasota Key in Southwest Florida.  As the family was boarding, Captain Stuart grabbed our huge five person raft (measures 90 x 90 inches!) and secured it on top of the double decker pontoon.  The nineteen year old twins were delighted and immediately climbed on top with their I-phones & ear plugs. This made it convenient for our fifty-something guests to enjoy the music they preferred on our Sirius Satellite radio.  The H2O Limo is a very comfortable double decker pontoon with large sofas, a bathroom, and a full enclosure should you need to get out of the elements.
We journeyed along the Gulf's ICW near the lush mangroves while enjoying a wide variety of amazing wildlife including Blue Herons, Pelicans, Cranes, Egrets and Dolphins and also passed a sandbar full of gorgeous White Ibis birds.  They got to see beautiful teal green waters as we cruised by Stump Pass which is the inlet between Manasota Key and Gasparilla Island.  Next, we cruised in beside Little Gasparilla island as well as the entrance to Don Pedro State Park which is also surrounded by mangrove forests.  They wanted to stop to visit Cayo Costa State Park and enjoyed many wonderful sights along the way such as the mile long fishing pier in Boca Grande which is actually an old train trestle.  After crossing under several bridges, we were soon in the Boca Grande pass which was a little rough but was easily passable.  An hour later, the family of four hopped off the boat so they could visit Cayo Costa as we beached the H2O Limo.  That's the great thing about a pontoon puts you out right on shore so you don't have to get wet unless you choose to!  There, the family walked along the pristine beach collecting shells and wading in the calm Gulf waters.  The water was a little chilly so they decided not to swim.  On their Cayo Costa visit, the sun started to set so we set headed the boat towards an island called Cabbage Key, which is a restaurant and inn that is only accessible by boat.  Gulf Coast sunsets are almost always extremely colorful and this day certainly  did not disappoint!
We pulled into Cabbage Key shortly after sunset and our group went inside for their dinner.  They loved the ambience of the island restaurant and said the food was really good.  They also brought us, the Captain & First Mate two cheeseburgers!  We were quickly on our way and cruised by North Captiva while star gazing.  Since the southern part of Captiva was their final destination, they all enjoyed some after dinner libations inside the warm enclosure on the H2O Limo.
At Gulf Island Tours, we strive to give everyone personalized service and all of our cruises can be customized.  If you want a private cruise to visit Cayo Costa, bookmak this blog for quick and easy access to our website.

Gulf Island Tours Yacht Charters
We have had truly amazing weather here in Southwest Florida for boat tours and yacht charters the week before Christmas!  We welcomed a family aboard our vessel, the "Reel Keel" in Fort Myers for our three night Platinum package.  We moved the yacht south, from Englewood, Florida and fell in love with historic downtown Fort Myers all decorated for Christmas.  Historic Fort Myers a scenic town with several blocks of pubs, outdoor restaurants with live entertainment complete with a Broadway style theatre!  There's much to see and do in downtown Fort Myers and it's an easy trip from Punta Gorda, North Port, Cape Coral or Port Charlotte - especially in our super stretch limousine.
The next night, we moved the yacht to beautiful Captiva Island and visited the South Seas Resort.  Captiva Island is definitely one of the most beautiful islands to visit on a yacht charter.  Another popular resort people like to experience by water is "Tween Waters Resort.  This island has several postcard worthy white sand beaches with clear turquoise water.  With Gulf Island Tours, you can visit these amazing resorts for a few hours or even for a few days.  A yacht charter vacation is unlike any other in that you can see many destinations and if one particular spot isn't "your kind of place" you will get to enjoy a very scenic ride to another island.
The third night, we visited Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande at Uncle Henry's Marina after stopping on the way at Cabbage Key. Cabbage Key is another a beautiful Florida island on the Gulf's Intracoastal Waterway that is only accessible by boat.  Upon arrival, we immediately saw lots of fascinating wildlife!  We watched in amazement as a Gopher turtle interacted with a Ribbon snake as we were walking from the boat to the restaurant.  As the two creatures intersected, the turtle just trampled right over the harmless snake and kept on walking. We also encountered a huge iguana, a variety of lizards, and a plethora of exotic birds.  The waitress there warned the kids in our group that one of the Snowy Egrets (named Floyd) was actually tame enough to take food off your dinner plate if left unattended.  We left Cabbage Key that afternoon and on the way to Gasparilla Island, everyone was absolutely thrilled to see a pair of dolphins jumping and playing in our boat's wake.
The next morning, the family decided to rent a golf cart and tour beautiful Boca Grande for the day.  Later that evening, after they had dinner in downtown Boca Grande at The Loose Cabosse, we dispatched our limousine to Uncle Henry's marina and sent our customers back to Fort Myers in our Chrysler Super Stretch limousine. That is one thing that sets Gulf Island Tours apart from our competition.  We provide limousine transfers as part of our yacht charter packages so no matter where you embark or disembark, we can transfer your group by limo to and from the yacht from Sarasota to Fort Myers and every point in between.
So, if consider a yacht charter vacation with Gulf Island Tours for an amazing adventure you will not soon forget!  Bookmark our page at for quick and easy access to our Southwest Florida Yacht Charter packages.
